Fall Prevention File: Enforcement Has to Be Visible

Prevention groups can support stronger enforcement without pretending Bill 208 answers every question. The fall file should show where youth access is happening and what enforcement is reaching.

Alberta's Tobacco and Vaping Reduction Strategy includes prevention, cessation, protection, and enforcement work. That broader frame matters because a product restriction alone cannot show whether youth access points are being reached.

  • Publish youth access indicators without burying them inside adult-market debate.
  • Report school-property, online, social-supply, and retail issues separately where data allows.
  • Use AGLC-style enforcement discipline against illegal operators while keeping the prevention record visible.
